At present the retreat is open to guild members who have paid their dues as of the March meeting.   We will open the retreat registration to guests as of April 10th or as soon as all members have had an opportunity to register.

Payment options via Paypal are now active on the Blog page.

Member price  for the full 49 hour retreat  is $50.00 and cash and checks will be accepted at the March meeting.

Individual day pricing (for any part of that day) is as follows:

We will have a Sizzix Big Shot Pro and dies available if you want to cut fabric for the Sizzix / Victoria Findlay Wolfe challenge or just play.

JMQG Pincushion Swap

Quilt Your Style Challenge!

Greetings quilters!

In case you missed it, we are doing a pin cushion swap during the March meeting. Make a pin cushion and bring it to the meeting. Stuck for ideas?  Do a quick search for a “pincushion tutorial” and get inspired.  Anything goes here, from a simple “pillow” to a fancy robot (hey there is an idea!). Just remember the golden rule and bring something you’d like to receive.

See you all soon!

March BOM: Branch Blocks Jen’s Style!

JMQG March BOM, Jen's Block

I know everyone is sitting on pins and needles waiting for the March BOM tutorial! Ta da! Our fabulous Jen made a tutorial for us (thank you, Jen)! And I am so excited to announce that Jen has kindly volunteered to choose blocks for us so we can continue the BOM program, yay!

Here is the link to Jen’s tutorial:

JMQG March BOM

Remember that if you weren’t at the last meeting and didn’t select a color for your background, to just select a color that’s not taken (Jen has the list of colors chosen in the list!). And speaking of colors! Our talented president Robin will be presenting color theory for our March program after the business meeting. If you are afraid of color or stuck with the same color palette (like me!), come and listen to what Robin has to say 🙂

See you all on the 28th!

February 2015 Meeting Hightlights

We had a great turnout for our February meeting with 12 members and 2 visitors!  Meeting minutes can be found here.

Yvonne shared her QuiltCon workshops projects:

Aren’t the ladybugs adorable in that perfectly piped quilt?

Yvonne also shared the mug rug she made from a “rescued” embroidered block, free motion quilted and all.

Check out the pebbles!

Marita wowed the group with her gorgeous quilt, made from a variety of striped fabrics, the movement is amazing.

In reds and browns, the fractured blocks looked great and Yvonne was the lucky BOM winner! I really must take better photos of these.

Jen also brought the finished top for the quilt we are making for the Red Cross Silent Auction:

There is no shortage of talent in our little guild.

Please remember to check our Calendar of Events for upcoming guild events. Our next get together will be for our March meeting on March 28th at 10:00 AM. How about a fun pincushion swap? The only rule is to make a pin cushion you’d like to receive! Any pin cushion goes. Stuck for ideas? Plug  “Pincushion tutorial” in your favorite search engine and get inspired! Bring a pincushion to the March meeting and leave with a different one; fun!

A BOM tutorial is cooking and will be posted soon! And do you know what else is cooking? Retreat planning for our first anniversary! Mark  your calendar for the 4/18th weekend and stay tuned for the exciting details coming soon to a blog near you!

Keep quilting and see you soon!

Red Cross Charity Quilt Update

Best Sew-In turnout ever!

Many thanks to Angie,  Candi, Janette, Jen, Laurie, Robin, Ruth and Symone for their diligent efforts to finish our Red Cross Charity Quilt  (top and back) today.

The view as you enter Room D from the Library main floor.  Eight happy JMQG sewists sewing elbow to elbow (literally) in one of the smallest rooms we’ve booked.    Here are Candi, Symone and Angie making it work.

DSC02939 Next to Angie is Laurie then around the corner is Jen.  Don’t you just love the symmetry of the alternating placement of sewing machine and ironing stations?

DSC02940

Jen and Robin saying….”Enough with the photos already.  We have to get this quilt done!”

DSC02937And last but not least in the final corner of the room are Ruth and Janette.   Then back to Candi’s work area.

You can see the quilt top folded on the chair and the back taking shape with bold orange, yellow, turquoise and red fabric on the design wall.

We’ll have the big reveal in another week or so, so stay tuned.
