We had a great turnout for our April meeting! 12 members and 3 visitors (one turned member by the end of day, welcome Adele Rivers) were in attendance. You can read the April meeting minutes here.
The photo above is of the contributed curvy blocks from our April BOM, aren’t they fabulous? Joan was the lucky winner of the block lottery!
Many exciting things are happening at our growing JMQG, which is now 23 members strong by the way, including a fun pocket quilt swap for our May meeting. Pocket quilt because it fits in your pocket; a quilt no larger than 3” by 5”, made using a modern theme/technique/block and signed on the back with quilter name and date. Each member can swap up to 2 pocket quilts. More information will follow soon but start revving your creative engine!
As usual, the show and tell is always the favorite part and many members (and visitors) wowed us with their creations. Check out the awesome tulip mug rug and love birds quilt made by our creative Jen.
Ruth shared with us her colorful quilt that made for a gorgeous spring table mat.
Our visitor Paris brought a couple of her quilt tops to share with us.
Adele dazzled everyone with her Chenille bird quilt, and a wholecloth and a couple other tops.
And last but not least our own president shared some finishes and near finishes with us.
And with these beautiful quilts, I’d like to remind everyone that the we have a sew-in planned at the Southeast Regional library branch at 10599 Deerwood Park Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32256, on Sunday 5/3rd between 1 and 5.
Also, because our May meeting falls on the holiday weekend, members attending the April meeting voted to move it to the fifth Saturday of May, May 30th at 10 am at the South Mandarin library. If you are in town for the holiday, we will hold a sew-in on the fourth Saturday when our meeting usually takes place between 10 and 4 at the South Mandarin library branch. You can always check our calendar for all the scheduled sew-ins. We’d love to sew with you!
See you soon!
